WPX Energy is seeking an Environmental Air Specialist in it’s Carlsbad, NM location. The successful candidate's main role will be to perform duties associated with air regulatory and permit compliance. The successful candidate will support implementation

of the numerous air programs including Texas and New Mexico Air Permitting, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting, NSPS Subpart JJJJ, and NSPS Subpart OOOO/OOOOa.

WPX Energy is seeking an Environmental Air Specialist in it’s Carlsbad, NM location. The successful candidate's main role will be to perform duties associated with air regulatory and permit compliance. The successful candidate will support implementation

of the numerous air programs including Texas and New Mexico Air Permitting, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting, NSPS Subpart JJJJ, and NSPS Subpart OOOO/OOOOa.

  • This position will work with the air team members and will also need to help train and oversee field personnel and contractors as needed to ensure uniformity of implementation and data gathering related to air compliance.

  • This position will primarily and directly support air quality permitting and compliance for the company's production facilities in the Permian Basin.

  • The position includes providing support as requested to assure safety and environmental compliance and culture is maintained in the basin.

  • This position will report to the Air Quality Environmental Manager and will work closely with the Permian Air Permitting lead. The candidate will also work closely with other HSE staff, field operations and facilities staff, and contractors to facilitate

air permitting and ensure compliance with federal, state and local air quality regulations.

  • This position will require, but is not limited to the following activities:

  • Performing monthly inspections,

  • Collecting GHG data,

  • Implementing permit requirements and recordkeeping.

  • Managing the LDAR program by directing contractors.

  • Training contractors and operational personnel in environmental compliance activities and documentation requirements.

  • Preparing and submitting notice of start-ups, performance test notifications, self-certifications, and other documentation.

  • Supporting regulatory agency inspections

  • Managing the NSPS and NESHAP engine compliance including scheduling performance tests, tracking engine moves, and ensuring preventative maintenance documentation is completed to ensure compliance.

  • Performing pad inspections, equipment inventories, development of site schematics, equipment compliance records, NSPS Subpart OOOO/OOOOa compliance activities and preparing documentation.

  • Performing or managing sampling activities and Reference Method 9, Method 21, and Method 22 testing/ monitoring.

Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Operational experience in the Oil & Gas Industry. Extensive knowledge of engines, production equipment, and oil field operations

  • Strong organizational and communications skills are essential

  • Ability to work in Microsoft office applications, Word, Xcel, PPT and utilize computer based environmental data management systems.

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with no serious violations is mandatory

  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and be able to work safely within company and industry safety practices, including comfortably climbing on storage tank cat-walks and be on your feet in the field for most of the working day

  • 4-6 years applicable experience

Job Preferences:

  • General knowledge of federal and state air quality regulations (Air Permits, NSPS Subpart OOOO/OOOOa)

  • 2-5 years technician experience

  • FLIR Camera or Method 9 Certifications. Experience with Portable Analyzer Training, Method 21, and Method 22.
