WPX Energy, Inc. Safety Specialist in Carlsbad, New Mexico
WPX Energy has an opening for an experienced Safety Specialist in our growing Permian Basin Office. The Safety Specialist will provide overall support and facilitation of the development and application of consistent HSE processes for the Asset.
As part of the HSE organization, this position is responsible for quality HSE improvement activities, assisting in the delivery and ensuring program/process sustainability for the asset. This position requires a strong, field based, hands-on background of
actively supporting and driving the development and implementation of HSE policies, standards, procedures and plans in an E&P organization.
Specific duties include:
Develop and present safety training, conduct safety audits/reviews and inspections in accordance with Company safety programs and OSHA rules/guidelines.
Provide all facets of technical safety support, continually reviewing accident statistics and determining the effectiveness of existing policies and programs, evaluating and recommending ways to enhance the company's safety performance.
Consult with Management on development and implementation of Emergency Response Procedures.
Assist with development & implementation of HSE programs
Coordinate/conduct incident and event response and investigation
Coordinate/conduct HSE related inspections of operating assets
Assist with contractor HSE program and initiatives
Represent the company while involved with governmental agency reporting, inspections or audits
Represent the company while involved with local, regional and/or national industry association
A degree in an Occupational Health, Industrial Safety, or Sciences is preferred; although this may be substituted with a candidate’s operational experience.
A high school diploma or GED is required.
A minimum of 2 years of Safety experience with a preference given for experience supporting exploration and production.
Must have a working knowledge of OSHA standards and their application to the design, construction, and operations of E&P facilities.
Working knowledge of workover rig experience is preferred
Professional certifications (CSP, REM, CHMM) preferred
Position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.
