PRN (As Needed)

Fast-paced, high volume Rehab unit is looking for top skilled SLP. Is that you?

Work location: Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Ln, Dallas, TX 75231

Work hours: PRN – As Needed

  • Variable weekday and weekends, with rotations for holiday coverage. Required minimum 36/hours a quarter, of which 16 are weekend hours.

Here’s What You Need

  • Master's Degree Speech Language Pathology (Required) or

  • Post-Baccalaureate degree recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (Required)

  • 1 year of adult acute/rehab care experience strongly Preferred

  • SLP - Speech Language Pathology Texas Speech Language Pathology License Required upon hire or

  • SLP-I - Speech Language Pathology Intern Texas Speech Language Pathology Required upon hire or

  • SLP - Speech Language Pathology Texas Speech Language Pathology License Required upon hire and

  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support Required prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English; Problem solving ability; Ability to teach others; Time management skills; Good interpersonal and customer service skills; Basic leadership skills

What You Will do

THD Speech Therapists are responsible for the assessment of patients, assessments to determine patient’s and family’s level of functioning to implement effective treatment, and to plan appropriate discharge disposition.

Essential Functions

Performs age-appropriate patient treatment

· Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment

· Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license

· Performs/delegates technical procedures appropriately and safely

· Utilizes a variety of treatment techniques to achieve goals, if necessary

· Determines patient response to treatment and evaluates progress (reassessment) Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self management and assistive equipment

· Maintains patient safety throughout treatment

· Communicates with physicians and other healthcare personnel as appropriate regarding patient care issues

· Demonstrates competence in the performance of age-appropriate patient treatment and individualizes care based on age specific needs
