Project Director - Offshore

KBR’s global business comprises two main segments – Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) and Government Solutions (GS). This role sits within STS in the Integrated Solutions business unit. Integrated Solutions is the engineering and project delivery group providing services which include front-end and detailed engineering, procurement, construction services, and program management primarily in the hydrocarbons and energy transition industries.

KBR is currently looking to expand its project management team in Leatherhead to support projects upcoming opportunities.

Based in Leatherhead, reporting to the Director of Projects for the region the candidate will have the primary responsibility for the technical and commercial delivery of one or more projects across pre-FEED, FEED and Execute phases.

The qualified candidate will have prior experience in delivery of new-build structures and their integration via tie-backs and step-outs into existing offshore infrastructure. The qualified candidate will also be able to demonstrate integration of multiple contractors delivering separate scopes such as topside, jacket, transportation & installation, subsea, offshore hook-up and commissioning.

Key responsibilities to include:

  • Assuring safe project execution to the client's satisfaction, consistent with cost, schedule and contractual requirements while maintaining bottom line responsibility for financial success.

  • Delivery of expected results for financial, HSE, client satisfaction, budget and schedule performance.

  • Serving as prime point of contact between the client and company, building strong working relationships.

  • Support in the pursuit of new work (client meetings, presentations and proposal work).

  • Assuring project execution is in accordance with policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the company.

  • Management of project risk to avoid delays or reputational damage.

  • Accountability for project financial performance

  • Reporting of project status / forecast

  • Identification of resource requirements and co-ordination with resource managers

  • Delivering projects as sole project manager or as part of a larger delivery team

  • Planning project execution and maintaining the plan as necessary and assures adherence to the plan. Keeps the client and company advised of project status.

  • Train, develop & mentor the next generation of refinery and petrochemical Project professionals.

Key attributes / skills / experience:

  • Senior professional with strong personal drive and credibility with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Demonstrate experience of leading the integration of multiple contractors, delivering scopes such as topside, jacket, transportation & installation, subsea, offshore hook-up and commissioning to deliver operating assets.

  • Knowledge and experience of delivery of new-build structures (fixed platform and / or floating) and their integration into existing infrastructure.

  • Excellent awareness of environmental and sustainability issues, particularly with respect to opportunities for decarbonisation (for example power from shore).

  • Oral and written communications skills, additional language would be desirable

  • Collaborates well in a team environment

  • Track record of project delivery in a range of global locations

  • Debottlenecking of technical issues across the disciplines

  • Reporting and tracking of progress and key technical concerns

  • Management of progress against schedule, including Earned Value reporting

  • Implementing technical corrective actions as necessary (lessons learned)

  • Ensure project team focus on internal changes as well as change to Contractor’s scope

  • Contract administration including change orders / contract amendments / risk management

  • Ability to works things through with clients and other contractors to resolve issues, including conflicting demands, sensitive situations, and conflicts with other groups.

  • Engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to gain the confidence of senior and executive management as well as multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural peers/subordinates.
