Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support various major transit projects in Canada, including primarily regions in Markham, Ontario.

Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Engineering and design for transit facilities although not limited to Subway & LRT stations, transit maintenance facilities, parking structures, vehicular or rail tunnels, traffic management centers, transit centers or, railway yards, bus terminals & depots;

  • Prepare detailed calculations, drawings, technical specifications, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, cost estimates, detailed analyses, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes;

  • Development of mechanical design concepts with architects, engineers, and owners; Design of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems, and tunnel ventilation in the building; Project Management on mechanical projects;

  • Prepare specifications, contract documents, and prepare engineering progress reports;

  • Ensuring design conforms with all applicable codes and client standards;

  • Travel to the construction sites to conduct Electrical inspections and prepare reports;

  • Technical supervision of junior engineers and technologists incl. mark-ups and review of design and drafting;

  • Mechanical system commissioning;

  • Able to work to tight schedules, control project budgets and motivate staff to do the same;

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or related field) and typically 8+ years of related work experience. Professional Engineer registration may be required.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal English communication skill proficiency effectively communicating complex engineering issues;

  • Well organized, self-directed work habits with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and schedule tasks managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.

  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm in design of HVAC, refrigeration, fire protection and process systems;

Preferred requirements:

  • Registered as a P.Eng.;

  • Provide valuable leadership to junior staff while move them toward developing their skills;

  • Ideal candidate would have local experience in above mentioned markets with strong ties and background in the local market, Transit authorities and consulting community;

  • Experience in mechanical/industrial systems in a transit maintenance facility:
